This panel convenes the technical leads responsible for delivering nuclear-powered submarine capability into Australian service, and for the standards, systems and stewardship beneath it. Discussion covers the task of integrating a design drawn from three nations' technology bases, the through-life configuration control a platform in service for decades demands, and the systems integration challenge spanning combat system, sonar and propulsion. It examines what naval nuclear stewardship asks of a nation standing up its regulatory and safety framework for the first time, the infrastructure engineering required at Osborne and at the west-coast sustainment base, and the technical workforce and qualification standards the programme rests on.
